Excerpt from Ch. 2. Last Night on Mars: The Second Edition

Laughing in return, Angelique asked how he was doing.

Isaac had no complaints, as usual.  Mentioning how happy their meeting tonight made him caused her eyes to light up.

“How are you, Angelique?”

“Fine thanks.  I’m ready to forget about my day in the office.  My boss was even more of an asshole today.  If I wasn’t a lady, I wouldn’t call him only an asshole, he’d be a shitty asshole.”

“Ha!  Aren’t they all?”  He asked rhetorically.  “My boss belongs in one of those factories on earth and even that’s probably out of her league.

Laughing again, Angelique suggested that when the drinks arrived they should toast to incompetence at work.

Isaac ordered their drinks, one Marstini, which was basically a red Martini, and a gin with club soda.

The bar man was a friendly guy, who asked how they were doing.  He had a heavy enough pour, which was always welcome.

After the toast they continued to talk and laugh. Making plenty of eye contact, more drinks were ordered.

Being next to each other added another level to their connection beyond the holo phone chats.

Soon she was leaning into himIsaac admitted he had been thinking of how it would feel to be even closer.  Angelique looked at him, her eyes communicating that this was his chance.

He touched her leg and felt her thigh through the soft dress.  Leaning forward, Isaac gently kissed her luscious lips and she reciprocated.

All the while not noticing the man sitting at one of the few tables in the corner of the bar, glowering at the unsuspecting couple.
